Product Release Schedule - Laptops (End of 2011)

Hi,

I can't find this in a FAQ - hope it is OK to ask here.

Does anyone know what the product release schedule is for Lenovo laptops (particularly Thinkpads; of those, particularly X series)? They've been having a sale for weeks now, so I assume that they are clearing stock for new models. And announcing something before Black Friday would seem reasonable. But I can find nothing to confirm these assumptions.

What happened in previous years? Are models likely to be updated in the next few weeks?

umm..... am SURE lots of pple be looking for same answers

maybe you can get a reply from this person .... as being his customer of xx00+ laptops a year; he dont seem to think its important to give US anything like what you looking for ,,,,,,, good luck

Thinkpads are always "on sale" on lenovo store.
Usually, the new models are announced simultaneously with or shortly after Intel CPU announces, that is, somewhere in January-March timeframe; and released, depending on the model, somewhere in March-May timeframe.
Updates are annually, and X220 was released just half a year ago, so i wouldn't expect its successor anytime soon, especially given that Ivy Bridge is expected to go on sale somewhere in March 2012 (and there is no point in refreshing the laptop leaving the core hardware unchanged, and lenovo never did that before).

thanks. after some searching around some more i had also seen the connection with chip releases and ivy bridge and came to the same conclusion.

which is good news. going to order me something now... )

According to our corporate lenovo rep, we'll start seeing next gen of thinkpads in May time frame.

Ivy Bridge wont be released until April at the earliest, so May might see ThinkPad new model announcements...... but any suggestion of shipping during May is probably a tad optomistic
