bad ibm sales service

#1 Post by bapou » Mon Apr 11, 2005 6:23 pm

Hi,

Since more than four weeks I try to get an IBM X40 Thinkpad directly from IBM.
The notebook was a special GSA offer on IBM.com. The first sales representative couldn't get me the price of
the web page and told me that the price + the special offers must be a bug on the IBM.COM webpage. Another could get me the base
price of the web and the tax exemption but not the free offers.
Than they told me the warranty is not valid internationally etc.

After one week I decided to order online, pay the tax and take the free battery and the free shipping.

On the time of the order there was written that the notebook is in stock. Than the game with the estimated shipping date began. It went four weeks up and down and than to backordered -> please call your representative.
I called and on this day the estimated shipping date jumped to the 27.March. They told me the order is already released and will ship on the 27th. On the 27th it jumped again and my sales representative promised me to call me back what she never did. When I tried to call her there was only the answer machine who told me that she's all the day in offic.
But she didn't reply on my mail / called back for two days.
Therefore I called another sales rep who connected me to her. She was irritated that I would have called so many sales rep (effectivly I called two on the beginning of the story and no one after) and told me that this model is running out
and with all the free offers it would be normal that I would have to wait longer.

Friday the surprise that the notebook (without the free battery) is shipping, but on the invoice the price is $600 more that the price on the order.
I contacted my representative by mail and called her because she didn't reply / call back. Again her answer machine which is telling me that she
is all day in the office but she doesn't call me back.

Bravo IBM...

I hope you have more luck with IBM

Hey - I'm an individual and I buy from IBM directly all the time. I've bought 3 machines and a bunch of accessories from them.

I'm more shocked that someone in Germany was able to order a machine at a GSA price. Am I wrong in assuming that GSA means US Government Services Agency? How'd you do that? And you wouldn't happen to have the NSN for a T43P handy, would you?...

You don't have to be shocked.

I'm working in the US for one year in a National Research Institute.
The notebook is for work and therefore they gave me the GSA pricing.

I forgot to update my location...

Best regards

Thomas

Should apply to any customer IMO, not just the big contracts.

And that has been my expirience as a non corporate user,
when not needing the depot.

Narrow I say because they once refused to service a failed motherboard, because I told them I had OS/2 running on the system.
So I rebooted to my Windoze partition, called back in and got my return shipment scheduled.
Well, you know what they say: "One man's Linux is another man's OS/2"

(sorry, couldn't help myself  )

I thought Linux was supported by IBM - but not by EasyServe???
It was just a joke I heard recently that came to mind when you mentioned OS/2. I guess you had to be there.

Sorry for the confusion.

Olaaah!
Heard it on TV actually - was watching N.C.I.S. a week or three back and the lead was off questioning some computer guy, and took his "techie" junior agent to act as a "translator".

I don't remember how that line figured in, but it was the "translator" talking to the computer guy when the line I quoted came up - context made it one of those "cultural divide" humor points...
