Dealing with IBM support (Refurbished T61 bought via IBM)

Hello,

I recently picked up an IBM refurbished T61 (through IBM, not Lenovo). Ordinarily, a 14" widescreen T61 wouldn't be worth stopping for, but this one had sufficient specs for my needs and a free 1-year warranty extension (as opposed to the usual 3 months) for a price that was too good to resist.

Long story short, I got the machine last week, and I've got two problems: 1) the cooling fan is dying. I don't want to return the machine, because I really do want it--do you know if IBM will just send me the fan assembly to swap myself, or will I have to remit it for service? 2) When I enter the serial number in on IBM's site, it only shows the original (expired) warranty...is this usual for IBM refurb machines?

The last I've heard is that they'll just replace the entire laptop...and they most certainly won't send you a fan...
