My work assigned ThinkPad is locked into dock

My assigned computer is a ThinkPad that is locked into its dock as my PC. I am unable to take it out of the dock to take home as it is locked and there is no key in the office for it. I can't get anything loaded on the machine as the machine tag number is on the piece that is locked down and isn't accesible. How can I get the ThinkPad off? Any other kind of a key that would work?
Type 2504 is one of the markings, as well as E-F900-05-483.

Welcome to the forum, but I don't think we can help you with that. Looks to me like you need to contact your companies IT department...they probably have it locked for a reason.

Well, it is a lock after all... It is designed so that when locked the machine cannot be removed. Have your IT department unlock it for you. If they don't have a key, ask them to order a replacement key.

The IT department was clueless and was going to bring a screwdriver...so..Do I order a generic ThinkPad key or a model specific key? Thank you so much for your prompt response and the chuckle.

I don't really know the answer....but I would guess Lenovo might match the key to the dock serial number. I'm thinking there are probably multiple keyings for each model of dock.

Maybe you could ask the IT dept. to contact their ThinkPad vendor. Or, if IT is still clueless about that...try purchasing.
