The X1 is a bit out of my price range - unless you have some for sale for about $150.
As for the SSD, it is snappy and boots XP remarkably fast. As I only have access to XP Spanish, it is all I have tried. I know the lack of trim support and some other issues exist, but for the purpose of this exercise, I really don't expect to see the SSD reach it's useful lifetime before some other issue takes the machine out of service.
I do need to study some more of the recommended tweaks for XP.
I do have access to a few Win 7 licenses and languange packs, but it is a hard call whether to use that on these field machines with new users. Though it might make sense to train new users on the current software rather than XP. XP seems to be the most common OS I have encountered in Honduras.
When the rebate comes in, I will have paid $35 for the 60GB OCZ drive. Not the best name, but the right value.
