How to Remove Access Connections Icon from TaskBar - Win7?

#1 Post by ellentk1 » Mon Nov 05, 2012 3:05 pm

:?: Although I unchecked access connections in msconfig startup, and stopped the processes AcSvc.exe and AcDeskBandHlpr.exe in task manager and changed AcSvc to manual in services.msc and rebooted, the icon (now gray) still appears in my taskbar. I'd like to remove it. I don't need to run the program all the time and the icon is pretty big. Do I have to do something with AcDeskBandHlpr.exe or is there a registry key I need to change?

Thanks for any help.

I have Access Connections running under Vista, i hope the differences aren't to big. Start Access Connections with administrative privileges. The program has three tabs. As i have the German version here, i'm not sure what the tabs are called in English. The program also has two user interface modes, you can switch between these modes on the top right. If you're using the standard interface - or whatever its English name is - click the third tab from left. It might be called "options" in English. There you can turn off the icon that shows a computer screen with an attached network cable.

If you're using the advanced user interface, also click the third tab from left, it might be called "tools". See if you can find a button called "global settings". Click it. A new window opens, it has two tabs. Go to the second tab. There you can turn off the Access Connections icon. You can also toggle the icon that displays the w-lan status there.
