Suggestions for a new thinkpad

Hi all my T60p 8741-CTO is getting a bit long in the tooth and I think its time to upgrade. I am looking at both the T530 and W530 and would like some help in choosing my next machine. I am a PhD student in physics so the machine will be used for data analysis of fairly large data sets 3GB or so as well as for coding and running small simulations. I would also like something that I could do a little gaming with. Thanks!

I will also be running Ubuntu either through a Virtual Box or dual boot.

Well Thinkpads are not known for their game performance. Graphics card gets hot. However, I should have my new W530 within a couple weeks and has the NVIDIA Quadro K1000M Graphics with 2GB DDR3 Memory. Will see how CIV 5 runs on it and report. Its works so so on my T500.
