And why not? I am using both the new TouchPad and the new keyboard for myself, why should I change my opinion on them? Because some people don´t like change or getting used to something new? There is no real reason to fight against these changes.

I am all for changes, as long as they result in improvements. For example, see this thread where I briefly participated in the discussion about the changes that Microsoft made to Office: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=58&t=113276 . I like these changes, and also the ones in Windows 8, because on the whole they made things better, even though some of them were hard to get used to. But the only justification I've heard for the changes made to Thinkpad keyboards has been "why not?" I have seen a few keyboard layout changes that improve the typing experience, for example the fantastic Logitech keyboard that I am using, where the extra large "DEL" key next to the "HOME" and "END" keys is an ingenious innovation. The "INSERT" key right above it is made much smaller, but it's still very easy to locate. But no one has satisfactorily explained the keyboard changes that Lenovo introduced in the past couple years. Tampering with keyboards is very risky, because it can potentially screw up the touch-typing experience big time. Perhaps you look at the keyboard often anyway, and so you don't realize how detrimental some of these changes can be. You might think reducing one's typing speed from 120 WPM to 110 isn't a big deal, but it is for many of us.

Lenovo modern features in classic ThinkPads

The TransNote's small keyboard was a good excuse for having just six rows. Also, all these Thinkpads were designed during the infancy of the laptop industry. It made sense to try various ideas at that time, even crazy ones, but once certain designs had been optimized, they shouldn't be tampered with any further.

I was hoping for the better LCD. Now there is one. Unfortunately though they removed much of everything else that made ThinkPad, ThinkPads. Don't even get me started on the delay of the 4th generation Haswell CPU in what is supposed to be their flagship...

QFT, plain and simple...

I'd argue that W540 is the most likely machine out of the current lineup to be returned by its new owners...because proper workstation it's NOT, especially with all the throttling issues that have been reported over and over...not to even touch the entire keyboard/TrackPoint setup...

While I have yet to play with a W540, if the clickpad is anything like the one I've tested on the T440p it's beyond useless for silly old me regardless of how one sets the actual "pad" portion in BIOS...not that I was intent on getting one anyway...
