At least your laptops are doing things... I emailed my sales rep. and he said it should ship around august 3rd... Today I phoned and another rep. said it should ship in 3 weeks, on the website it says "Within 2 weeks". Im very disapointed with the inconsistancy here... My computer will probably be obsolete by the time i get it, or worse yet, it will come down in price. If your computer does come down in price by the time you recieve it, will IBM/Lenovo give you a refund?

I've read on this forum that there is a 30-day price guarantee from Lenovo.

I had originally ordered 2668-4EU, on 7/28. Personal Pages said 25 days, still say 25 days. Changed order to 2686-DGU on 8/1 since personal pages (more specifically the alumni page) said they were in stock, as well as the Lenovo site. I received it this morning. Day for process, day to pack, then ship overnight, voila. I updated the warranty to 3 years and got a bigger HD, DVD burner. Cost about $100 more. Got b/g card no bluetooth instead of abg card with bluetooth in 4EU. I figure I can upgrade those later if need be. I had once ordered a T43p. Ordered it in March, cancelled order at end of May when there was still no laptop in sight. I guess the trick is get what's in stock if possible.

I ordered a 266875U from EPP on 9/6. The web page said 2-4 weeks. The order confirmation email had an estimated ship date of 9/27. I check the online order status today (9/8) and it says 10/26.

Has Lenovo's system gotten any better in the last month or so? or should I expect my system to randomly ship sometime between now and the end of next month? I'm going to be out of the country for a week next month. It would be very unfortunate for my system to show up at my door and then get shipped back to Lenovo because I'm not available to receive it.

Similar thing happened to me: 2373M3U originally estimated to ship 9/21, suddenly showed an est ship date of 10/29. Needless to say, I was displeased. So I called Leno and the guy said it was a current issue with the website. i was kinda surprised it hadn't come up here, yet...

It's gotten much, much worse lately. When I ordered, I was called and told they had everything in stock but the wireless card. If I changed to the IBM a/b/g card, it'd be built and shipped in a week. Great, that was the card I wanted anyways.

A week goes by, nothing. I call, and they say "Oh, it's backordered, should be in any day now. Keep calling back."

Then, "Oh, it was discontinued, so they're having to custom-build a T42 to match your specs."

Then, "The motherboard is backordered, it should be in next week, where it will drop to manufacturering and be shipped to you in three days."

So, then the website says they shipped me the port replicator and extra AC adapter. I call, and am told, "No, everything shipped, including the laptop."

I get the box, and there's no laptop. Now I'm [censored], so I call back.

"Oh, sorry, they must have miscounted the motherboards, the new ship date is the 8th, and we'll make a notation in the system where we'll call you if the ship date changes or it goes to manufacturing."

The 8th rolls around, and my status changes from "in progress" to "backordered". I call back, and am NOW told that the WIRELESS card is out of stock. The new ship date was today, and I was told they'd call me this morning at 8am to let me know if it shipped or if the date got pushed back.

I haven't gotten a call, my rep didn't answer his phone, and customer support just told me that my NEW current ship date is Wednesday.

As soon as I find out who to address a letter to, I'm writing them. This is unbelievable. Thinkpads are the best laptops I've ever used, but I shouldn't have to put up with getting lied to on multiple separate occasions to buy one!

Maybe this question is in poor spirit, but does anyone ever get anything out of IBM by complaining about this kind of snafu? One gets the impression (online) that you can call Dell to complain that their packing material smells funny and get a concession coupon.

Update:

Yesterday the online status changed to "back-ordered."
Today the status changed to "Within 2 weeks."
Estimated ship date still says 10/26/05

I'll try to give Lenovo a call sometime this week to see what's going on. It's actually kind of amusing to me to see how often they change the order status. I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up actually shipping on 9/27 like my order confirmation email originally said.

That's EXACTLY what mine did, at one time, it was backorded more than 6+ wks, yet it shipped the exact day I was quoted on the original order. Why can't they just leave well-enough along with regards to the order dates???

Well, the status of my 266875U changed to "Packing" today. This is just one day past the 9/27 ship date that was stated in my original confirmation email. The online estimated ship date still says 10/27. Unless it takes an entire month to go from packing to shipping then I'd say that they were pretty good on the original estimate and I'd advise others to ignore the online system (it'll only cause you heartburn).

OK, this is getting ridiculous. Does anyone know whether this is a Lenovo screwup or a UPS screwup? UPS says it just hasn't cleared customs; they just kind of ignored the routing errors.
