My thinkpad took 3 days to get from anchorage through customs and to the local depot where I could pick it up. It went through customs in Ontario, CA and I am in Northern California. Just a warning for you all not to get toooo anxious or you could have an anyuerism and be unable to use said laptop :) either way it'll be in your hands soon, the excitement only hightens the joy of finally recieving you TP :).

lol, thanks for the warning. =)

I think everyone who has reported in on this thread are in the East Coast, and if they're bound for Kentucky, that shouldn't be a problem...

Why did you have to go to a local depot to pick it up? No delivery?

arrived at Louisville, Kentucky 8:20 p.m. eastern for me

@kaplanx

i DID call UPS (see a previous post) and they DID claim a "guaranteed 10:30 a.m. delivery on June 9th (pending what they called "normal" customs procedures)." So, we'll see tomorrow morning what happens :)

I wouldn't worry about it too much.. I talked to my rep yesterday and he said he'd be very surprised if I didn't receive it by Thursday, and yours is also in KY, don't sweat it.. you're getting it very soon!! :D

It could be worse.. it could be stuck still in manufacturing! and pushed back 1 or 2 more weeks!

Heh. Well, it would be nice if it would get here by Thursday. Your first post kinda got my hopes up. I think I'd settle for Friday, since it's still being labelled an "exception", and if it has to stay for almost a day at customs, just like bigndude's, then there should be no way for it to get to our doors by tomorrow.

In my experience, FedEx and DHL are best at pushing their packages past customs. UPS has always been somewhat mediocre.

Can anyone tell what the writing next to the red arrow means? I hope it's not a 3 day delay such that someone spoke of earlier...

Overall that's an optimistic description of UPS as well.

Mediocre, if not worse!

Well, it looks like it went from HK to Alaska, back to HK, then back to Korea.

Maybe the warehouse forgot to put a part on or something. =)

If I check that UPS status page one more time... *Gets in car and drives to Louisville* I was starting to think I was going to recieve my laptop tomorrow, but it seems its going to be stuck for awhile  It has been stuck at 'Status: Exception' for a bit. Good things comes to those who wait though, neh? Hopefully I'll be able to enjoy a problem free-perfect pixel'd laptop by Friday *pray* :D

Don't forget about the International dateline. The time listed is the local time of the site it is scanned in. It probably went from Hong Kong to Korea to Alaska.

Oh yea.. that would explain a lot of stuff I've seen on the UPS tracking system. I wonder why they can't simply embed the local timezone and have the server do a few subtraction/addition routines.

Multiply those "few extra routines" by about 15 million packages per day and you'll quickly realize that it's amazing their information is as accurate & up to date as it is!

Granted, it could probably be implemented easily on the client side if all times in their system were GMT based, thus allowing the local time to be applied by the web browser.

I got a whopping 3 1/2 hours of sleep, had a bite and checked my email..

Today! 8) 8)

Wow am I glad it didn't take customs all that long.. about 7 hours or so. If I get it today like they say I will, they will have been on schedule with my original date right from the start.. I don't know what all that nonsense was about the 12th, 14th and crap my rep was selling, but they secretly kept to the ninth.. ah.. only a short while longer

IT GOT FROM LOUISVILLE KENTUCKY TO WATERTOWN, MA (JUST OUTSIDE BOSTON) IN 2 HOURS?!?!?!?!? HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE!!! :!: :!: :!:

LOOKS LIKE I REALLY WILL GET IT BEFORE 10:30 A.M. TODAY THATS AMAZING!

*edit
LOUISVILLE, KY TO WATERTOWN, MA IS 975 MILES AWAY FROM EACH OTHER!!! my package MUST have been flown in order to cover that land in 2 hours (490 mph!)... Otherwise, the UPS data is wrong...

*second edit
crap i just remembered something called TIMELINES... darn

so i'm guessing they DO use the local times on their data sheets...

*THIRD edit

WELL DARN... even with time zone changes hell i'll even toss in a few hours... even with 10 hours you'd have to be doing close to 100 mph from KY to MA!!!

Whoa baby!! UPS guy was here at 8:30 am with not one but TWO thinkpads!! For the past two hours Ive only been opening the darned things. This is amazing. So far that fan noise crap people were talking about is phooey, maybe it depends on your taste, but I don't hear the fan! The only time I heard it was at startup, which is natural. Ill take that to another thread.

This baby is gorgeous!! Never felt a better keyboard, omg. What a beautiful day fellas. Have fun! Ill chime in later after Ive completely setup my systems.

Cheers! 8)

Wow... this is truly amazing.

My unit is also out for delivery. I just hope the UPS guy actually rings the [censored] doorbell (we had an issue with in a few years ago where he claimed he delivered a neighbor's expensive VCR to us, but we never got it, so he stopped ringing the doorbell and [censored] us off with a lot of yellow "first attempt"s slips).

Anyway... this is a nice surprise to be shown after just getting up. =)

Still waiting on mine. It showed that it went to Shipped status on 6/06. My tracking information has been just like all of yours, and seems to update fairly slowly. I am in northern CA and finally called UPS yesterday. I was given a delivery date of Thursday, 6/9 before 10:30am. It's 10:04 and no laptop yet.. :(
