Models that support two ultrabays

#1 Post by Whitieiii » Sat Jan 21, 2017 6:49 am

What are some models of Thinkpad (2005 and older) that support 2 ultrabays? Eather two in the machine (my first choice), two in the splice dock or desktop dock (splice dock preferred), or one in the machine and one in the splice dock or desktop dock (my second choice).... i ask this as I would like to have one of those ultrabays for a CD-ROM drive and the other for a floppy (or hdd adapter when not using floppy)

Splice dock = ultrabase
Desktop dock = docking station
My Current Thinkpad Collection:
A30 Pentium 3 512MB ram 55 or 58GB HDD Win 98SE
T410 1st Gen i5 4GB ram 2x320 GB HDD Win XP & 7 Pro
X220 2nd Gen i5 8GB ram 120 GB SSD win 7 Pro
T430 3rd Gen i5 6GB ram 500GB HDD Win 7 Pro
T440s 4th Gen i5 8GB ram 300 GB SSD win 10 Pro

Ultrabase only for X-series. (And there's no such thing as a splice dock!)
Docking station 2631 with Ultrabay 2000 for A2x/A3x/T2x/T3x/X2x/X3x
2 Ultrabays only in A3x series
3 Ultrabays in A3x with 2631 dock

The Ultrabase units for the older X series is also known as a "media slice", not "splice". I think that's where your confusion comes from. The thin batteries that mount to the docking port of those X systems is also called as slice battery.
