Korean Speaking Members Help Request
I need to contact Leo Kim, the expert modder who posts frequently on http://thinkpads.kr/xe/
He has solved a problem with the VBIOS on an Nvidia 3700M which I would like to benefit from. If a forum member could post in Korean on that forum it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

I see this forum...one of the best on the internet...differently than you. I have communicated and purchased from members from other countries, and as America is a diverse culture, there are people from all backgrounds on this forum, which is a good thing.
I am sure that there are Korean speaking members who enjoy communication both in English and Korean.

Korean is kinda obscure, i'm learning slowly and got no response here last year trying to source a X230 Korean kb - ended up having to use a X61 as that was the only one i found on ebay. Thx for that link by the way.

Dekks:
For many reasons I still hope for a response from this forum community, because it would be simple for a Thinkpadder to sign up and, conversant with the technology, pose a question and request. But your suggestion is a very good one. I had pondered asking a Korean speaking neighbor that my girlfriend met, but haven't seen him around. Going to a community center is something I hadn't thought of.
Thanks for your thoughtful responses, Dekks.

Why not try google translate and hope for the best? Always worth a shot.

What exactly is the issue you are having? I know a Korean guy who works on older ThinkPads and a few who work on computers. It's a longshot but I could bring the issue up and ask one of them about it next time one of us are in a conversation.

A tech friend and I are working on a mod wherein we need to get the Nvidia Quadro 3700M to output to an 8 bit display rather than 6 bit. Leo Kim has solved it. It involves editing the 3700M's VBIOS.
Regarding an earlier post about using a Translator, I tried contacting the administrator of a site where Mr. Kim posts, and it was not very effective. The Translator failed to fully translate the page, and actually signing up to such a website would be even more difficult.

How about try and contact an online translator that could make the posts for you. I bet there is someone out there that could help you for a bit of cash.taichi wrote: ↑Fri Jul 21, 2017 9:38 amA tech friend and I are working on a mod wherein we need to get the Nvidia Quadro 3700M to output to an 8 bit display rather than 6 bit. Sheer curiosity on my part and completely off-topic: what's the end game? Why do you need the 8-bit output?

Re: Korean Speaking Members Help Request
It has to do with an MXM upgrade into a machine with an 8 bit screen. The card has been outputting 6 bit, resulting in less pixel intensity and a dimmer screen.

Im pretty sure the Dreamcolor 2 LCDs are, a quick look on panelook shows there out there. Personally, 262K colors is fine by me. 6 bit are good enough.

DC2 was "billed" as a 10-bit panel AFAIK, although quite a few folks questioned the validity of that statement.Thinkpad4by3 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 21, 2017 6:05 pmIm pretty sure the Dreamcolor 2 LCDs are, a quick look on panelook shows there out there.
I, for one, certainly hope that's not where OP's going because if he is, the modded VBIOS will be the smallest of the problems that he'll encounter...
