HDD/SSD Setup

#1 Post by Whitieiii » Sun Nov 26, 2017 12:02 pm

I'm wanting to know how a Thinkpad/Elitebook would be setup for maximum storage and drive speed and as I can't go with a huge SSD, that's outta my price range, I have a 120 GB SSD and a 500 GB 7200RPM HDD and I would like to get an SSD for the WWAN slot but don't know if that would work and if there are any differences between the WWAN slot on Thinkpads and Elitebooks.... now I know I can replace the CD drive with a HDD caddy but do I put the SSD in the main bay or the caddy? ideally I'd love to have one drive for Windows, one drive for Storage, and one dedicated for my Video editor but I can do without the dedicated drive for windows

what do you guys suggest? and thank you for all the help so far it means alot

Shouldn't you go to a HP forum with such questions?

there isn't a good one like this forum otherwise I would... posting on HP.com this model is too old and not many people might not help me... this question not only partains to the 8460p but also to the T440p

IIRC the T440p has an M.2 2242 B-key slot for WWAN and SSD.

Anandtech's review for the HP 8460p says the WWAN slot doesn't support mSATA.
Planned Purchase: T480s i5-8350 FHD Touch
Impulse Buy: Thinkpad not named for safety reasons
