Lenovo CES 2018
Re: Lenovo CES 2018
I read the articles about the new laptops and they say that they will be available later this month but when I check with the sales channel, they are telling me we can't order until summer. I can wait for a new T580 for a month or two but not 6 months. The roadmap from reddit is gone, does anyone have a copy or did it say when the T580 would be available to order? Thanks!
Re: Lenovo CES 2018
New keyboard on '90 series maybe ? Saw some suggestion on reddit. Don't believe it though ! Think it's wishful thinking.
What's a P1 ? Some kind of top-end box, analagous to the X1, but for power-user ?
Guess there will be good deals on '70 series now that '80's are coming along in the next couple of months.

Something with a 15" screen and centered keyboard is coming "later in 2018"

Re: Lenovo CES 2018
Price difference on between buying 8GB module vs 16GB module to pair with another 16GB is not that much, just get one more 16GB module.
Dual Channel Symmetric mode (matched size of two modules helps so much with integrated graphics.).
PS: your CPU-Z is incorrect, try later version. If 2GB + 1GB, 4GB + 2GB, or 8GB + 4GB modules, that's asymmetric mode and hurts integrated graphics performance especially with later computers that does reports exactly 4GB or greater.
I just rebuilt another chromebook acer C740 with 4GB motherboard and I also have 2GB C740 motherboard in another. The 4GB Acer C740 graphics is much better due to dual channel mode using 2GB + 2GB design.
Cheers, thinkpadcollection

I was about to get the pitchforks and torches out of the closet. I guess they'll come out another day .
Thinkpad4by3's Law of the Universe.
The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.

Thinkpad rumours
Bit of a weird rumour on reddit, a 15" Thinkpad with no numpad, and X-series build style (no idea what that means), that isn't the P1, coming in about two months time. No idea how reliable the rumour is, makes no sense to me though.
