4ZU0Q68726: ThinkPad 25th Anniversary Collector's Edition Mechanical Keyboard Red

#1 Post by Wolfman_Jack » Tue Jan 23, 2018 7:41 pm

I noticed this on eBay:

ThinkPad 25th Anniversary Collector's Edition Mechanical Keyboard Red 4ZU0Q68726

https://www.ebay.com/itm/273029173181

Does anyone know anything more about this product? Is it legit? Will it be released in the US?

That's just the 5 row Tex Yoda for mechanical keyboard fans, an overall disappointing product for Thinkpad traditionalists.

This ain't a disappointing product for Thinkpad users. Its the Thinkpad 4th Anniversary Keyboard and its anything but a disappointment.

Thinkpad4by3's Law of the Universe.

The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.

So do you think/know it's a legitimate Lenovo product? Or did this eBay seller just slap a thinkpad sticker with some magic marker on a Tex Yoda and mark up the price?

Its BS. Tex Yodas were small run by some guy. Lenovo would never make a keyboard with that design.

Sorry if I'm beating a dead horse, but I think this is Lenovo's China website?

IIRC Lenovo commissioned a production run of Tex Yodas, slapped a Thinkpad logo, and inflated the price.
Planned Purchase: T480s i5-8350 FHD Touch
Impulse Buy: Thinkpad not named for safety reasons

It's for Mechanical keyboard fans who are also Thinkpad fans. With only 5 rows and no functions it is inferior to any Thinkpad keyboard.

It's also inferior to any other keyboard in the market, sans maybe replicas of itself. It's more for mechanical keyboard posers, who want to talk about things rather than actually use them.

I've been using these for over 10 years. They are quite nice, among the nicest rubber dome keyboards there are. The only qualm I have is that the multimedia buttons are of inferior quality, and sometimes don't register clicks.

I switched mechanical 5 years ago and I havent looked back, but there is no way in hell I would touch that abomination of a cramped layout. There is no dedicated delete key!!

I went to the ThinkPad China website when it came out, only 200 were made and they were sold out immediately after release,
it's priced CNY1999 on the ThinkPad website, so it's kind of suspicious the eBay one is selling for pretty much the same price, they even used the stock photo, no sight of the box,
I am calling Bs on the eBay one.
