Lenovo started to make their own SSDs

#1 Post by Puppy » Thu Feb 01, 2018 11:45 am

According this review ThinkPad E480 (i5-8250U, RX 550) Notebook Review But the result is rather disappointing, quote:

As we looked for the model number of the SSD built into the E480, we found a little surprise: The SSD with the model number LENSE20256GMSP34MEAT2TA is produced by Lenovo itself.

This proprietary Lenovo product is a PCIe NVMe SSD in M. 2-2280 format with a capacity of 256 GB. The test results in the storage benchmarks are weak: The SSD is fast in sequential read testing, but otherwise it is an NVMe-PCIe SSD of the slowest kind. So slow, even the SATA III SSD in the ThinkPad E470 is sometimes considerably faster.

Cheap displays are already known but we can also expect subpar SSDs from Lenovo now. Edge is a bugdet model but still.

It wouldnt surprise me if they replace the 500GB HDD with old IDE ones and call the nvme. Those corner cutting dimwits!!
Thinkpad4by3's Law of the Universe.

The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.

My X1 Carbon gen 5 purchased in September 2017 came with this SSD (my intention was to upgrade it with a Samsung 960 Pro which I haven't done as yet as I like to sweat my assets)

Take off the fan and check who's the CPU producer.
Too many thinkpads not enough time!
