T Vs L series reccemendation

#1 Post by Whitieiii » Mon Mar 12, 2018 10:39 pm

there and real big differences between the T and L series with 5th and 6th gen i7? seeing what would be a better upgrade to my T440p for as cheap as possible... I'm not so concerned on the display and 1366x768 is more then enough for my needs with a dedicated gtx940mx but I'm more focused on internals should I go for something like a L450 or L460 or go for a T450 or T460? what would you recommend for someone on a budget?

Intel generations really aren't that different anymore. A 4th gen vs 5th gen is basically unnoticable. If you can get the specs you want on a T440p over an L450, go for the 440. Also, the non-p machiens you mention don't have the high-performance CPUs, rather the slower dual core units.
Thinkpad4by3's Law of the Universe.

The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.

I do already have a T440p and it it is fine ram wise and could benefit from an upgraded quad core CPU but it holding up good enough but really I'm trying to upgrade from a GT730M to a GTX940MX but don't know what to go with is all... I'm wanting quad core cpu 12 gb ram and a GTX940mx graphics... So it's between a T/L 450p and T/L 460p or I could get an Alienware 13 but I've never really liked Alienware or Dell or I could get a Lenovo Y series 14 inch but both of those are overpriced for what you get... I've yet to encounter anything that needs a gtx10xx card except for maybe the newest of new games/programs and even then I don't play or use them...

If you are going to keep your laptop fairly safe, don't take it everywhere, get the L-series. If you will be throwing it in a bag around places, get a T-series.
tl;dr Do you want your laptop made out of cheap plastic or decent plastic.
