Searching for old Thinkpads is a royal pain now.

#1 Post by Thinkpad4by3 » Wed Mar 14, 2018 6:51 pm

Lenovo has used so many of IBMs old numbers it is becoming a pain to search for them.

Lenovo's victims:
220(JP)
230(JP)
240(Most annoying w/ 240X)
300
330(JP)
380
500
560
570
700
P70(not an Thinkpad but still makes the cut)

Ugh. Wouldn't be the worst thing lenovo ruined.

The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.

At least the ThinkPad 600 seems kinda safe, I doubt Lenovo will release a 16" ThinkPad.

What were they thinking for not asking me?? In all seriousness, this isn't a BIG deal, just something I wanted to point out. I mostly use "IBM -lenovo" in my searches to get what I want.

On eBay searches I usually do stuff like "(ibm, lenovo, thinkpad) (t20,t21,t22,t23,2647,2648)" (no quotes) because sometimes pre-T6x machines may be erroneously listed as "Lenovo" instead of IBM as well and sometimes may not even include "ThinkPad"... also may be helpful to include MTMs in your search (for instance, T2x is also 2647 and 2648 as found on the bottom label)

I did get a cheap T23 that way once because it was listed under I believe "IBM Thinkpad 2647" instead of T23, and also a PowerBook 1400c because it was listed as M3571 instead of "1400c"
Current: T440p (Win10), W500 4058-CTO (Win10), T61 8892-01U (Win2000), Semi-Retired: T61 8892-01U (Win10)
Museum/Retired: T400, Z60m, T43, T42, T30, T23, A30, A31p, 600X, 600E, 380ED, 770Z, 560Z, 765D, 755CX, 755CD
Others: Dell D630, MacBook Pro Mid-2012, PowerBook G3 Pismo, AlBook 15"/1.5G

One of the easiest things for me to do is to simply look through all entries, but it is a good thing I'm not on social media as often anymore - I've shifted how I use those few hours now ^_\

Ah thank you very much. Indeed, we are complaining about things that many don't have the luxury to complain about :D

While true, many forum members still list in the Marketplace section of this forum. Perhaps you will still find some of the older builds listed there.
