Replacing the depreciated ThinkWiki, Thinkba.se (by yttrium)

#1 Post by pathan421id » Fri Mar 30, 2018 10:59 pm

TL;DR

ThinkWiki editors are either mostly dead or or just don't have interest anymore

The process to sign up and be an editor on ThinkWiki is butt + potentially people that have the permission to authorize you are dead

yttrium over on the /r/ThinkPad discord have started the project to replace the depreciated and incomplete ThinkWiki
The aim is to provide up to date information on relevant models and a few older models

I find the mockup's aesthetics too "cutesy" to be considered a serious Wiki page, but that's just me.

Besides that, as long as the contents are correct and useful, I'll give it a thumbs up for the effort.
Planned Purchase: T480s i5-8350 FHD Touch
Impulse Buy: Thinkpad not named for safety reasons

It's as a placeholder only

The actual website won't look like that, according to the developer

I'd rather find at least one Thinkwiki administrator and ask them to transfer administration privileges to someone who cares, then continue editing Thinkwiki. I much prefer the lighter wiki-look than whatever that thing is supposed to be.

Even if an administrator can't be found, any current editor can share his/own credentials with someone else he/she trusts.

Hi,

I am the founder of ThinkWiki. I am sorry if you had trouble login in.
Some time ago I decided to make the account creation a manual process due to massive spam and abuse.
I am very sorry if some of you had trouble contacting an admin. I will think about a new approach to this.

ThinkWiki is definitely not dead, neither are the admins.

Ciao, Arno

Bad news:( ThinkWiki was (and currently is) my #1 bookmarked web site in ThinkPads group.

I have written to ThinkWiki admin some years ago to get editors rights. Can't get some, but my hints from that e-mail have been posted on site.

The above is just an invitation to join yet another dubious outfit that wants to steal your email address, IP address, details, messages and whatever else.
Another Facebook-wannabe in the making!
I call this spamming as well.
