How do the keyboards compare on the T25 and P71 models?
How do they compare with the W520 keyboard I'm now using?
I'm considering either the 25 or the 71 as a replacment for the 520.
I really like the 520's keyboard. Didn't Thinkpads used to have a full 3 mm of travel? Mine feels like it might be close to that.
I'm surprised that the specs list the P71's travel at 2.2 mm and the T25 at just 1.8 mm.
Can someone with hands on experience please compare these keyboards.

Comparing the keyboards on T25 and P71
Re: Comparing the keyboards on T25 and P71
Well if you can afford to buy P71 and you do not mind the size/weight of this monstrosity there's no point to discuss on this topic. Beside these two differences between T470(25) and P71 i just mentioned, the latter is superior in any other aspect. And if you do care about key travel, believe me 0.4 mm is a lot. I can tell you a story - within past few months I have had few L560 and T460 that I've been using on a daily matter, and once I sold them I switched to E470 for a month. Although E470 is a good budget laptop for the first few hours of use, I had the impression that something was wrong with the keyboard - something was missing. After checking several reviews, it turned out that the keyboards installed in the E series have a slightly lower key travel. It took me 2 weeks to get used to it.

Re: Comparing the keyboards on T25 and P71
The key travel is indeed shorter on Thinkpad 25 versus the older 7-row keyboards like in the W520. However, it does not affect the pleasantness of using the keyboard one little bit.
