Microsoft buying GitHub - ThinkPads mentioned

#1 Post by Callahan » Sat Jun 09, 2018 2:45 am

Just reading this article from a few days ago ... Lenovo and ThinkPads are mentioned in it. It deals with Microsoft buying GitHub. Maybe having some 'older' ThinkPads around will be the way to go, if I understand the talk.

"Here is a recent example; because Microsoft made a deal with Lenovo, now new Thinkpads are designed for just Windows. If you're a Linux user, good luck in your new adventure. People say "isn't it like IOS or Android?"; it's not. We had this freedom of using Linux, and Microsoft has been taking it back."

He's confused. You may be unable to boot Linux if the UEFI BIOS has "Secure Boot" enabled without the ability to turn it off, or something like this. No Thinkpad ever had this problem. As for the rest of this, people in that thread do a pretty good job of explaining to him that he's wrong.

Absolutely nothing. It would be wrong, if Google had bought it.
ThinkPad (1992 - 2012): R51, X31, X220
Huawei MateBook 13
