So now they are both L series and not separated into L and X series.

So what sets this apart from any other machine made in the last 4 years?
I set a T470 aside a T450. I couldn't tell any difference in speed and the aftermarket screen I had was better and the speakers were better and really besides brightness and a number change I can't tell the difference.
And everyone SAYS you gotta upgrade to the latest gen CPU....well I gotta say I have rarely told the difference between an i5-2540M and an i5-5300U.
And Lenovo's naming department might have had a few too many beers.

The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.

No, there is still separate X series. ThinkPad 13 was merged into L since L380.

Of course that is the case. The i5-2540M is a 35 W CPU, while the i5-5300U is a low-voltage chip that only consumes 15 W. It is actually slightly slower than the i5-2540M. Its biggest advantage is not performance, its efficiency. Since it consumes much less, the laptop can achieve better battery life, a lower heat-output (thus less fan-noise) and/or a thinner chassis.Thinkpad4by3 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 17, 2018 11:05 amAnd everyone SAYS you gotta upgrade to the latest gen CPU....well I gotta say I have rarely told the difference between an i5-2540M and an i5-5300U.
T420 to T470 all will deliver a very similar level of performance, with the T440 gen actually being the slowest (as it was the first with low-voltage CPUs). The first generation with noticeable performance gains is the T480.

Well yes that is true but the battery life actually isn't too dissimilar. With a 9 cell on my T520 I get around 6 hrs medium brightness. On my 6 cell ext. 3 cell int. T450 w/ the brightness locked on max, I get around 6-8. Though one is like 4-5lbs and one is 7-8lbs but whatever. I'll take 3lbs for a bigger screen, 7 row keyboard, and the feeling like your controlling a battle tank and not a fisher price kiddie toy.Ibthink wrote: ↑Mon Dec 17, 2018 3:00 pmOf course that is the case.
