When (if ever) does Lenovo bring out 16:10 laptops again?
The competition can!
Dell goes all USB-C and 16:10 for its XPS lineup

Are you listening, Lenovo?

Lenovo will certainly bring out 16:10 screens again... but only after everyone else has. Lenovo hasn't been a leader for a long time. They are followers now.

We are willing to pay for 16:10 laptop screens!
Hope ThinkPad is listening...

We still use our T410 as daily driver;
it has 16:10 LCD screen, and it brings you extra productivity (more vertical space = more productivity!).

Lenovo started selling 16:10 laptops again last year in the Chinese market (The Xiaoxin 13 Pro Series), but it's made for individual customers who need a cheap, high performance MacBook Air substitute. Hope one day the entire Think lineup can also move back to 16:10 but that could be a very long wait :(

Dell may use 16:10 in the XPS line now, but for different reasons than people may think. They don't use 16:10 because it is better for productivity, they use it because it eliminates the bottom bezel. It is purely for fashion reasons, not the better usability.

Case in point: Their actual work-laptops (Precision 7000, Latitude 5000 & 7000) all feature 16:9 screens. And that is why mainstream ThinkPads like the T series won't adopt 16:10 anytime soon, maybe ever.

The only line where 16:10 is realistic is the X1 lineup, because design is more important there (while cost efficiency is less of an issue) and the X1 more or less directly competes with the XPS.

Replacing the bottom bezel with screen directly improves productivity. You may be right that Dell is doing it for fashion, not productivity, but that seems very odd to me.

The productivity increase is minimal anyways. All those going on and on and on about how 8:5 is sooooo much better than 16:9, why not go all the way to 4:3? What makes one particular ratio special? A lot depends on the particular tasks, the individual habits, the screen resolution, etc.

If anything, the part where Ibthink describes Lenovo as a company more concerned with fashion, whose portfolio is driven by the choices of their competitors, and not by any real innovation, is completely realistic.

Replacing the bottom bezel with screen to go to 16:10 increases the screen size by 11% while leaving everything else on the laptop the same --- that is a significant improvement. Of course I would prefer 4:3 --- see my signature --- but this thread is about 16:10.

X1 Tablet is 3:2, but the removable keyboard/base might not be my cup of tea.
It also has a kickstand in the rear, so it might be a pain to open/close.
