ADS panels (maybe by BOE) vs IPS Panels? Tech and/ or User experience commonalities & slight differences?

So I recently came across ADS Panels which I found are a variant of IPS type panel variant made by BOE.

Googled and read a bunch but nothing as crisp/ concrete of input as we used to get on TP Forums.

I recall BOE Hydis mostly from the TP Forums so I figured I'd ask here.

Haven't heard of ADS specifically, but a few companies have made variants of IPS and patented them under their own acronym. E.g., PLS, AHVA...

They are still IPS at its core, and tend to be just as good, on average, than the recent flavors still marketed under the IPS name. There may be some specific advantages and disadvantages.

Which specific panels did you have in mind?
Thinkpad 25 (20K7), T490 (20N3), Yoga 14 (20FY), T430s (IPS FHD + Classic Keyboard), X220 4291-4BG
X61 7673-V2V, T60 2007-QPG, T42 2373-F7G, X32 (IPS Screen), A31p w/ Ultrabay Numpad

I thought Boe-Hydis version were called "AFFS"? Or were those the old ones?

I think I have slowly realized, that we need to research and discuss some panels which are still in production. Some time and money will need to be spent investigating these, in order to come up with some replacements for the common famous ones from years ago, which are all out of production, and by now have not only become rare as hen's teeth, but also skyrocketed in price and fraud as the part numbers have become well known.

Therefore I will be following this thread with great interest, and contributing when I am able.

(2022) Actively on the lookout for for 15" T60 FlexView / Hydis LED displays and parts, for my own usage. Kindly PM me your demands if you are willing to part with anything. :D

IPS type ones with Wider Viewing Angles.

If one googles there's quite a many articles listing the variety but no gold reference or a Wiki to classify them.
