I've experienced three different ThinkPads, each with a distinct keyboard feel. My favorite has been the X1 Carbon gen 6, and I'm curious if there are any modern ThinkPads (not necessarily X1C) that have a similar feel.
T470p: Typing felt laborious. Although it seems to have longer key travel (over 2 mm?) than the other models I've used, it didn't provide a better typing experience. Rather, the key action felt overly stiff, requiring more force than is comfortable.
X1 Carbon gen 6: Wonderful. Despite having shorter key travel (1.8 mm), the action feels springy, with a nice tactile bump to it.
X1 Carbon gen 9: Not as nice as the gen 6, but not as bad as the T470p. It feels kind of like the T470p but requires less force, and has shorter key travel (1.5 mm).
Are there any current(ish) models whose keyboard feels similar to the X1C6?

Similar keyboard feel to X1 Carbon 6?
Re: Similar keyboard feel to X1 Carbon 6?
Keyboard feel is subjective, and it varies from model to model and from keyboard to keyboard. After all, Lenovo sources their keyboard from multiple suppliers.
So there is no answer here that can be 100 %. What is for certain is that none of the newest models will provide the same travel distance as the X1 Carbon Gen 6 keyboard, but of course, travel distance is not the only factor in typing quality.

Keyboard manufacturer lottery strikes again. There's 2-3 different manufacturers for each model's keyboard and each has a different feel. Your best bet to ID each one, aside from removing the keyboard and punching the FRU into lenovo's part lookup tool, is to punch in your machine's serial number into the parts lookup tool and look under the AS BUILT tab.
