I have a Lenovo Legion - I know it's not a thinkpad, but I have a question

#1 Post by whoknows88 » Mon Nov 27, 2023 7:48 pm

Hello,

I'm trying to find a replacement CMOS battery for my Legion. It's an older Legion 5 15ARH05 model. Lenovo hasn't even provided for driver updates for this for three years. I'm trying to find the right part number so I can get a new CMOS battery, since it's going dead. Can you help please?

Welcome to the Forum.
AFAIK that Legion uses a CR2016 CMOS battery, available in most pharmacies and hardware stores.
You can do the swap yourself, as described e.g. here: https://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.p ... 77#p863677
Yours has only red/black wires, but the procedure is the same.

Here's a sample of the Legion's battery:

Yeah, that's exactly what I'm looking for! Thank you very much! But as far as I know, the one with the wires is only available from Lenovo, and even though it might be more expensive I'd rather go through Lenovo for the purchase. Are you sure that drugstores sell the one with the wires? I've never seen that where I am. ??

Because I don't want to do surgery and mess anything up, I would just rather buy the part from Lenovo. As far as I could tell, it's over $30 for the battery with wires. But I wasn't sure if I had the correct part number.

I'd rather just buy from Lenovo and know it's done right than mess it up. I appreciate your advice, but I really don't want to literally replace it like you showed. I'd rather just buy the (over-priced) part and be done with it... You know?
