thanks for all the support.. :)
uhmm, and that one vote shouws that the poll is honest..

i have not voted since i think it would be inappropriate for me to do so..

if i do get any more static i'll post the letter..

last time ibm went away and since that time have not bothered me until using the site as a reason to deny the business partner application..

in chatting with the lawyer who handled the issue for me before, too much time has passed for them to raise the issue, but if raised, it would take $$ to defend..

again, thanks for the support and i must say that rediscovering a real life is reason enough to move on to another business plan for thinkpads.com..

Or that my email address of bill at thinkpads dot com is also misleading and can confuse and is too much like IBM or (now) Lenovo..!
Unless people are stupid I can't see how this place can be mistaken for IBM or Lenovo.

I think some IBM/Lenovo lawyer is just sticking their beak in to make work for themselves in order to make more money for themselves. If they write to you demanding that you do 'x', 'y' & 'z' just tell them to f-off. It's perfectly clear that this is independent.

That's the issue. The US's legal system is the laughing stock of the world. If it does go that far then I'd naturally expect a barmy outcome from it all. Considering Bill has been lining IBM's pockets for years and now Lenovo's I think that any 'bully' tactics used against him would be a disgrace.

It's the good old USA, where the lawyers have ruined the country through litigation. Anything is possible.
This is the country where the American dream is to get rich by sueing someone. The lawyers get a cut so they promote it.
Why work hard when you can trip yourself, fall down, maybe break an ankle or an arm and sue the property owner for everything he has. Let them do all the work and then just sue them for it all. Nevermind the fact that you are trespassing, it doesn't matter. :o
Same thing applies to websites.

In an effort to extricate myself from the 'stupid' catagory, which someone above seemed to put me in, I am going to elucidate. (Do $50 words help?)

The first day I came upon this forum, I took a look around for only a very few minutes, before returning to the other forum I mentioned previously. In fact, from the time when this site forum.thinkpads.com was posted for me to read about, until the time that I posted thanking said person for inadvertantly directing me to it, was 11 minutes. I didn't read the FAQ here, I only just glanced at the forum catagories and some of the post subjects.

It was the following day that JHEM corrected my thinking. I don't remember if I had returned to forum.thinkpads.com in the meantime or not. The total time frame that I was deluded encompassed 30 hours. It wasn't until after JHEM had set me straight, that I went back and joined Bill's site. (How do I know all these times? I went back and looked again at the posts.)

Now if JHEM hadn't of set me straight, how long would I have been deluded? Well, hopefully not long, but I think I would have figured it out once I began perusing the site more in depth.

That first time I came here, I thought this was IBM's forum taken over by Lenovo. I was unaware the official IBM forums had been shut down for a while. I did know that Lenovo had bought out IBM's PC line, but I really had no idea how Lenovo might design their website, or a forum. The quality of this site appeared to be on the calibre that I might expect from a company sponsored forum. If I'm not mistaken, Microsoft's previous forums were not so much different.

What say ye? Stupid or just a little slow-witted? (No response necessary)

IBM/Lenovo: Don't look a gift horse in the mouth.

What benefits does "partner" designation afford, Bill? Do they give you deeper wholesale discounts that you could potentially pass on to your customers? If that's the case, I think the community should make a bigger stink. It would be good PR for them to keep you supplied with the goods at a reasonable price. I know a lot of people who prefer to deal with small businesses that give personalized service. If IBM/Lenovo showed more respect for your >POSITIVE< contribution to their brand, they would increase their good will with the die-hard ThinkPad users.

I just got my T42 a few months ago, but assuming Bill's still in business when it comes time to upgrade, I will likely patronize him.

business partner is a better status than PCVar..
PCVar requires that you buy from a distributor, with BP status i would buy directly from lenovo..

personally i think there is something unsaid going on within lenovo..

some personal vendeta..

when there is something new to report i will post here and on thinkpads.com.. and if these sites go dark suddenly, i will post on billmorrow.com..
