Order Status timeline?

#1 Post by jessetig » Wed Sep 14, 2005 1:58 pm

I ordered a T43 (August model, not Express program) on Sept 6. THe order status page still shows "within 2-4 weeks" with no specific estimated ship date. I'm leaving for a long trip soon and was wondering folks' experiences with Lenovo shipping before or after the expected timeframe? Thanks

i moved this to the proper venue..

ibm or lenovo shipping is a big mystery to everyone, probably including ibm and/or lenovo as well as the customers..

you could get that next week or never..
either extreme is very unlikely..
most likely is 2 to 4 weeks and sometimes, in this case, earlier than 4 weeks..

which model did you order..
you DO know that there are other sources for new thinkpads..
from me to PC connection and others and some of them might have stock and they do NOT usually add sales tax like lenovo MUST..

I ordered an X32 from Lenovo. The web and e-mail shipping estimates were way off. basically it took 3 days to process my order, shipping took just 1 day from china to Ontario, California. Then my x32 sat in customs for 9 days. BTW, UPS's info. on tracking international shipments is very messed up. you won't be able to tell when it will be released or what is going on. but for the customs issues i would have had my thinkpad in less than a week.

I ordered an X41 (2525-6HU) on 14 September 2005 and it has been in the packing stage for the past 10 days.

During those 10 days the shipment date has been pushed back from the original shipment date of 28 September 2005 to 3 October 2005 to 11 October 2005 and today the shipment date is 14 October 2005.

I throw in another complexity:

I ordered through Exec Relations (it's replacing my old laptop which they couldn't repair) on 9/23, and was told about 10 days. It's now estimated at Oct 13 (much to my disappointment).

Considering they have my old dead laptop... you can tell, I'm in a bad situation. They took my laptop Sept 6 (after 2 failed Solectron repairs), so I've been told it's going to be "a few more days" for quite some time.

Another Update:

My X41 (2525-6HU) has shipped. One day later than the original expected ship date.

Funny thing is that I checked quite early this morning and the ship date was once again pushed back to 19 October 2005.

I'm hoping mine isn't the 13th, considering on the website it says "in stock". I'm supposed to get a call or email today regarding the status.

Edit: looks to me like a case of parts shortage, hence the date of the 13th based on what I've been told.

Last update I hope.

I took delivery or my X41 last night.

Happy with it so far. Although, it already BSOD on me twice after installing Zonealarm firewall software.

Mine got bumped out to the 18th... ugh. And it's a *replacement*, for a laptop they haven't been able to repair since late august.

I'm sorry to hear that. Hopefully they will ship it out earlier than the estimate.

I loved my old thinkpad, well designed...

but after this "service" experience, I'd definately hesitate to buy another. If they break, it can take 2 months to get a replacement!

I was struggling with the idea of 3-5 days with no laptop the first time I sent it for repairs. Now I've been going several weeks without a laptop. Far from ideal.

I seriously hope service improves.

I ordered T43 2668-75u on Sept 9, it went from "within 2 weeks" - "back-ordered" - "within 2-4 weeks" - "back-ordered" - "within 2-4 weeks" and now it's said "packing".

The original ship date was Sept 30, but the online status is now said Oct 18, before it was even pushed back to DEC 12.

I called Exec. Relations today about my replacement, and was told it was a parts issue. I'm really hoping it's mailed out this week. I can't really afford being without a laptop any longer...

ijo: your story gives me a little hope that the date isn't totally accurate.

ok, that's really strange.

I'm hoping mine ships out this week. I really want it to ship today, so I can get it by the end of the week (fingers crossed).
