whom to complain about T43 delay

#1 Post by ddutta » Sun Sep 25, 2005 9:46 pm

I odered a T43 CTO on Sep1st. I see that its backordered and I might get this thing in mid Oct!!! .... Is there something I can do eg. scream, threaten, nag, complain. At this rate Lenovo might lose a lot of TP fans like me.

Even std models are backordered. I wanted a 1.86/2G, SXGA+, 9cell, 7200rpm and not pay for the fireGL .... thats the problem. I got the CTO config for a much lower price. I think std models turn out to be more expensive. For a std model with the same config, I would have paid much more as they would bundle things like DVDRW etc .....

I ordered a standard model (266875U) three weeks ago. Online order status changed from "2-4 weeks" to "back-ordered" within the first week and has said "within 2 weeks" for the past two weeks. Today it changed to "back-ordered." I guess the 2 weeks ran out and they decided to make it back ordered. The original order confirmation email estimated a 9/27 ship date (online status says 10/20) so I'm crossing my fingers on them getting the thing shipped out this week.

I am in the same boat on a 2668-75U. Order placed last Tuesday, showed 2-4 weeks early on, then went to backordered this week-end, but changed to "within 2 weeks" this morning. We'll see, hope my old Latitude does not die before I get its replacement...

dduta - would you consider a T42? if so, go for 2373H6U which is on special. fwiw, mine took about a week to ship.

the 266875U seems to be in short supply. i ordered one on 9/3 and it says backordered.

I ordered a 266876U on 9/8 and it is finally packing, so I should receive it this week.

Hoya

Thanks for the suggestion. I configured that 2373H6U model and the price is $14xx with 9 cell, 256MB, 7K60, XP home, 2200b/g which is what I want. My CTO order is from the EPP store (thanks to my friend) and is $200 less with a 2G processor. I am sure the difference in proc. speeds is negligible but $300 is a lot of money.

does your CTO include a 3 year warranty, bluetooth, and fingerprint reader? I also have access to EPP but couldn't put together a better deal so please let me know the base CTO model you found. thanks.

I have a T43 on order (ordered 9/23) as a replacement. I was told about 10 days, and that it's a slightly higher priority since it's a replacement for a warranty system. So hopefully I won't be to effected by all these delays. I really need a working laptop again.

Hoya,

Look at the 2668AJU. I dont know about the BT, but it does have FPR and 3yr. I think this is the cheapest CTO with 2G/FPR/3yr/SXGA+ ...... I think this model is new (Aug end) .....

my 9/23 replacement is due 10/13, which is rather long (especially considering it's a replacement). I'm hoping it will be sooner.

My guess is that this is a parts issue, not a manufacturing issue.

You guys have one advantage over me: you can check the changing date on your own. Because mine is a replacement, and handled through Exec Relations, I have to call the rep there, and ask for an update.

I'm really hoping 10/13 is a mistake. I was hoping 10 days was a "buffer" for them. My laptop died (they have it). So I'm rather limited without the replacement.

But on the plus side, at least I know it's fresh out the oven.

Sorry for the many posts...

Anyone know why a laptop listed as "in stock" on the website could take so long?
