Thinkpad tradition broken.... Austrian Newspaper reports

#1 Post by lophiomys » Thu Oct 20, 2005 3:15 am

A funny and ironic picture trail in DerStandard
about the new features coming with Lenovo Z-series.

... "Hell froze over" ...
article in German.

Too bad I'm linguistically challenged to read the captions. To be expected when you are from the other side of the Big Pond.

Pictures 1, 6, 7, 8, & 9 appear to be the T-Series. Perhaps picture 10 is as well, but it looks different than my T42. Pictures 2, 3, 4, & 5 are from the new Z-series I see. Nice pics.

Without understanding the captions, the pictures seem to suggest that the Z-series are not built with the same durability features of the T-series. Then there's those Windows and Application keys.

no it actually says roughly summed up, that the z-series is
+ more stable with its redesigned magnesium chassis inside (like other upcoming models)
+ takes water on the keyborad, via draining holes to the bottom (does it need nappies now?)
+ the finger print reader is not fooled any more by cut-off fingers and jelly-bears
+ you could still step on it (I'd never dare to try this out.)
~ and you shouldn't confuse it with the mainframe Z-Series

but
- it is colourful now (lid covers)
- it has Windows-keys now :(

have fun,

Thanks for the clairification. I agree with your conclusions.

Since I am financially challenged (as well as linguistically challenged), my T42 will have to last for a while. No Z-Series in my immediate future.
