Est Ship Date 12/12/05??? WTF?!

#1 Post by Photoshopped » Sun Oct 23, 2005 5:23 am

I ordered a T42 a week ago, it's going to take over 2 months to deliver? Geez, it will be obsolete by then! Do they normally ship earlier than promised or can you cancel an order?

Mine shipped after 7 weeks (CTO model)! I felt exactly the same way.

Yes, it can happen, but generally the estimated shipping date on Lenovo's site is pretty unreliable and it keeps changing. The T42p I got recently actually shipped much earlier than was shown on the site at various times. At one point the shipping date was shown as about two months out. Nevertheless, it actually shipped about 3 weeks after I placed the order and then arrived at my door two days after it was shipped. I think that is the more usual experience although unfortunately some have experienced frustratingly long delays.

A pet peeve of mine also. Yes, you can cancel the order until "they start putting it together" which is usually a few days before it ships, in my experience. So, if you want, call the 800 number to cancel. If they are "putting it together" it will ship in a few days. If they are not, you can cancel.

You can always send it back in 30 days if it is too late for you cancel.

WOOHOO!!! Just got an email saying that it shipped! :D Week and a half, not too shabby - so much for the website's expected ship dates. Anybody know how long it'll take to get through customs and to Texas?
