Order/Delivery Status
I started this topic to track orders and delivery times for the Z60.
Yesterday, I placed my order for a Z60T. Current estimated ship date is 12/16/05.
(I am hearing that Lenovo has generally been conservative in these forecasts and generally beat them by a couple of weeks. We'll see.)
Particulars: Model 2511F5U
(2.13 ghz, 1g ram, 100gb hd, 11a/b/g)
This was ordered through last month's promotion offering $178 savings.
On top of that I got some additional savings on a 1 gig ram upgrade (which looks to be a promotion this month).

I ordered the T43 on 11/03/05 (late night of 11/2) and it has been on "Packing" since several hours after that. It was first shown as back-ordered. Est. Ship Date is 11/23/05.
I should get an email confirmation after they ship it, right? I just don't want to keep checking the status. I'm going on a long trip in three weeks and really want to get it before that. After reading several posts here, I kind of doubt it.

If its coming from HK (which is yes), then expect another week delay.
My order has been sitting in Ontario, CA (near L.A.) for two days.. I called Lenovo and they tell me to expect it by next wednesday. (Another three days from now.)
Fwiw, I stupidly paid for express shipping. I'm going to ask for a shipping refund once it arrives.

I ordered one of these on 11/02 to be delivered to San Francisco, CA.

Yep. Quite frustrating. I'm also in the SF bay area. Mine arrived in customs on Nov 2. I complained to Lenovo on Nov 9 (expected delivery day). No change. I'll be calling back on monday.I ordered one of these on 11/02 to be delivered to San Francisco, CA.

I also complained to UPS. They replied stating customs is a Lenovo problem.

I'm imagining there is a huge warehouse down there with two customs agents opening each and every box.
If anyone has any insight into the Lenovo/Customs issues and *why* its a problem please post. I could not get any info/details about why Lenovo shipments are being held in customs. (Fwiw, a guy at work ordered a product from china/HK (not a Lenovo thing) and got it in 2 days. So this isnt USCustoms standard-operating-procedure.)

After a two week delay in customs, it has arrived.
Last night it appeared to "move out of customs"... and this morning it was delivered at about 9am. Once it got it out of customs in southern ca, UPS quickly got it up to oakland...
Usually, it takes about another day to get it from the Oakland sorting facility to my place, but UPS managed to get that done in the moring.
Btw, B^) The UPS delivery guy said he had about 10 of those very same boxes for delivery in the local area. (I found that pretty humorous.)
Also, the box came totally sealed. No inspections, etc., appeared to have been done.

I ordered custom made Nike shoes. It's shipped from China but didn't have to go through the FDA. So, shoes can't be infected by the virus but the computer can. I wonder what kind of virus it is.

The process is semi-random. Some people don't have any delay with their thinkpads. I had one ship Tuesday Night or Wednesday, and arrive Friday morning. Extremely quick, even according to Lenovo.
There's also import issues. Shoes are likely under $500, which is much easier to import/export than something more expensive. If the declared value on the package is higher, they tend to be looked at closer.
