How does Lenovo number its Models?

#1 Post by Hanson » Sat Dec 17, 2005 12:50 am

I'm primarily focusing this question the the T43 series, although it probably applies to other series as well. What I ultimately want to know is what is the difference between a model like 2668-xxx to 2687-xxx (is 2687-xxx newer?) and the xxxx-AAA to xxxx-ZZZ. How do they come up with it?

Mostly it has to do with the warranty and the graphics contoller used. I got this information out of the July 2005 Tabook.pdf file.

T-43
Model - Warranty - Graphics Controller
1871 - EasyServ - GMA graphics controller
2668 - EasyServ - ATI graphics controller
1872 - Onsite - GMA graphics controller
2669 - Onsite - ATI graphics controller
1875 - 1 year - GMA 900 graphics controller
2687 - 3 years - ATI graphics controller
1876 - 3 year EasyServ - GMA graphics controller
2687 - 3 year Easy Serv - ATI graphics controller
2686 - 1 year - ATI graphics controller

EDIT: Corrected a typo on the next to the last entry.
