My upgraded T40 is starting to look at little long in the tooth at the moment.

Still think the T4x series look more professional, i don't know - i miss the palmrest and side of the T4X and the the red and blue lined buttons for trackpoint.
But great news indeed, looks very well built too. What are the X1300, X1500 and X1600 like ? It must be good performance wise since they needed to add an extra fan or more fins instead of the printer port, but maybe not so for battery life.

In my opinion the T40 in your sig will peform at least 90% as well for most all tasks... at 30% of the price. We always want the latest but seldom does it really make much of a difference. I don't really think there will be a flood of T4x's on the market because of this announcement, but if there are it's to the benefit of T2/3x owners who are "Drooooooolllllllllllll"ing over aT4x as much are you are for a T60. The cycle goes on! And it's kinda fun to watch.brentpresley wrote:Hmmm . . . Dual Core . . . . Drooooooollllllllllll.

I hate how far down the side the ports go... that's just asking to be bumped and broken off.
The T43 isn't great in that respect. The T60 just stinks.
I wonder if they are using SATA drives though...

I see one model of T60 for sale on Lenovo's website for $2,049.00 US.

In addition to being slimmer, the X60s is lighter than the X60.kadf88 wrote:the X60 & X60s seem exactly the same.. why would someone want to ge tthe X60 when the X60s is the same thing but just slimmer?
I'm assuming both models are getting the dual-core processor

Not that I care, but there's now a Windows key on the T60.

Overall, I think the new "look" appears to be lower-class than the current T4x series.

Apathy is on the rise, but nobody seems to care.

It's just the drool factor. Wife would kill me if I actually bought one.brainpicker wrote:In my opinion the T40 in your sig will peform at least 90% as well for most all tasks... at 30% of the price. Looks like the X60 and X60s use 2.5" HDDs instead of 1.8". Nice.
Wonder how well they'll run Vista...
EDIT: Actually, the more I look at the specs, the more excited I get. What I'll probably do is wait for the X61s if they produce one, as that will be about the time I'm due to upgrade my X40. What I like: extra USB port, wireless on/off switch, faster memory, faster hard drive (of course), and shock mounting for the HDD.

I assume the UXGA screen wont come out until the "p" series is announced.r1ych wrote:No UXGA screen available on the T60?
Display Choices:
14.1" TFT SXGA+/1400 x 1050
14.1" TFT XGA/1024 x 768
15" TFT SXGA+/1400 x 1050
15" TFT XGA/1024 x 768
Surprised they have ditched that option!
So far the T60 is looking nice. And with an available x1400 128mb graphics card to boot.

Anyone using a Windows OS will find them useful. That's 99% of ThinkPad owners then.andyP wrote:and what's not good news is, but no surprise unfortunately, they have those windows buttons

Don't get a T60 then as there won't be much difference compared to what you already have.brentpresley wrote:Hmmm . . . Dual Core . . . . Drooooooollllllllllll.

I quite like the look of the T60. It's slightly curvier than the T4x and it seems IBM/Lenovo have listened to what users have had to say.
I won't be buying one though. My T40p & T42 do everything I need with ease.
Edit: Now I've seen more photos the T60 looks cheap and dare I say it, tacky?
I don't like the external antenna on the right hand side of the screen and the keyboards look cheap and nasty. It' certainly a massive step back from the rounded keys on the T4x series keyboard.

Can I simply swap out my T5500 CPU in my 1953CTO T60 with a T5600? Or my T2400 core duo in my 2623D6U T60?
