Ahh!!! I had seen this many times. BUT i don't believe it at all. Incredible tales...

Not terribly surprising all in all when you consider quality hardware manufacture and these things not being quite as fragile as you should treat them. When I was a kid I had a subscription to Nintendo's magazine, Nintendo Power, and it had more than a few stories of people leaving hadware out in the snow, etc, only to find it worked. Even salt water is not lethal; but you have to quickly steel yourself to giving the device in question another dunking, this time in clear water.

Of course the circumstances change if the thing is running and something important blows before a fuse or protection circuit...
