Post-original warranty...warranty

#1 Post by dsigma6 » Tue Jun 06, 2006 1:16 pm

since i bought my r40 off warranty, i just noticed this post warranty program. for $169 they will fix my thinkpad for a year.

i called to check and this seems like a great deal. the guy i talked to just said you would have to wait a week or two before sending it in if there was a condition that existed before the warranty was purchased.

i just bought a new HD for $75, and know that i need a new inverter (at the least)...it seems quite economical to return the HD, and have IBM replace the faulty HD i had and the inverter- plus anything else they find.

is this too good to be true? any experience with post warranty?

This is a great deal, I have used it myself. I was the original owner, however 15 months after the warranty expired my T23 developed a bright spot in the display. I sent it in with a list of everything I could think of. It was unbelievable! They replaced the display, the hard drive, the keyboard, the wireless card, the system board, the trackpoint and it came back like new.

So send yours in and enjoy the great deal!.... :D

well, like i do with every post that i dont get a quick respose on...i act on it!

i ordered it earlier, so i guess ill wait a couple weeks to send it in. you just write a list and they change things? i would imagine theyd test it out, but maybe they dont have the time. i hear that you have to say its for business use, anything more than that?

well, looks like im gettin overhauled!

They do indeed test the computer after they repair it.

So you are all set... :D

hey now!! im not one of those newbies who thinks this is a chatroom. the quick replies from some folks can sometimes spoil you. i have a real job, and a life- that can be interrupted by my new toy

i was just saying that when it comes to getting a new toy or something like that, once my mind is set, ill go ahead. (bad for the last used cadillac i bought)

thanks for your input.
