Experience with lenovo support outside USA?
I recently purchased a T60 in USA. Then I moved to Turkey. I realized that there were some issues with my screen. The screen looks to grainy. By grainy, I mean there are irregular brightness changes in closeby pixels. To tell how it feels, when I set the background say to gray, it is as if I am looking at sand at beach. The screen is made by boe-hydis. It is 14.1" SXGA+. And yes, the color is set to 32 bit. I checked my screen against another T60 which also features the same screen with the same FRU number. I did not notice any such effect on the other T60. If I were in USA, I would have returned it immediately. After all, we are paying a premium price for the support. I have checked that I am entitled for international warranty. I wonder if anyone had any experience with the lenovo's support outside of USA. Please let me know about your experiences. Thanks in advance.

I can not comment on coverage (warranty) in Turkey! But I can comment on your screen!
Even if the laptop is the same model/type etc; there are still a LOT of variables when it comes to suppliers!
I had a screen go bad on a laptop (remain un-named) the replacement had the SAME issues that you are describing AND it was the same LCD brand/manufacturer. You might get a replacement LCD that has a STUCK pixel! I am not saying, don't try it; but the replacement is a 50/50 shot when it comes to screens! It might be better then yours or it could be worse!!!

I'm not in Turkey, but for what it worth, in Israel IBM support is known to be very reliable. For warranty entitled machine (no matter where bought and how, if the warranty is international), the service is prompt in general. We have most major hi-tech companies in our country moving to Thinkpads (T4x series) so that IBM labs support has grown on it....
Hoe in Turkey it is also good as expected...

In the Philippines it was pretty useless when my T42p motherboard died.
They did find me a local (30 kilometers) repair facility, and the guy did take all the info off my machine and request the part from Manila. But 10 days later we left and it still hadn't come in.
But it was fiesta time, and things were crazy. The street in front of the shop was full of costumed dancers and bands, and I had to find the owner of the shop in the crowd. We did have a couple beers together, so it wasn't a totally wasted trip.

Thanks for the all replys. Today I get on the phone with an authorized service provider. This is what he told me, since the screen is not a customer replacable unit, he has to send the unit to Istanbul (I am in Ankara, just another city in Turkey). This may take 4-5 days. And when the unit gets to Istanbul, they will inspect it. At the end, replaced or not replaced (there is no guarantee they will replace or repair), this process will take 45 days. I really feel sad now. I know I should have checked it throughly when I had the time in US. It would take at most 4-5 days to resolve this issue in US. Now here, they are talking about a month and a half. I would go for it, if only I wasnt so dependent on my computer for my work. Seems I am stuck with the defected screen for at least a year, till I get back to US
Perhaps your better bet would be shipping overseas back to US for the treatement (the warranty is international so doesn't matter wheere serviced), will probably have quite expensive S&H involved and possible Customs hassles on return, but if your living (aka, work) depend on that, you may consider that hoping (and I think reasonably) turn arround time to be much more manageable (I would expect around 10 days up to 2 weeks).
