HDD cloning and hidden partition

#1 Post by lswone » Wed Jun 14, 2006 10:38 am

Hi All,

I am having a hard time clonning the hidden (restore) partition on IBM ThinkPads and IBM Desktops. I am using a LogiCube clonner. I have been able to successfully clone the hidden partitions on HPs and Dells. I have contacted LogiCube and they could not help me on this one.

This is a pain because I have to upgrade on average 2 HDDs a week here at work. I get a user that wants to upgrade to a larger HDD but I am faced with either building the new HDD from scratch and replacing all the data and software, or clonning with no option for disaster recovery.

I would appreciate any help or thoughts you may have on this.

Thanks,

Luis. 8)

Unhide the recovery partition in the BIOS, clone the HD bit for bit, install the new HD and re-hide the recovery partition.

I used acronis trueimage to clone my hd on T60. It was able to see the hidden restore drive.
