Intel is set to announce its long awaited Core 2 Duo and Core 2 Extreme processors tonight, July 13th, at midnight.
Looks like Intel wants to get published benchmarks before their shareholder conference call next week :D

Clever.

I am actually looking forward to Chip Wars II and having even more competitive pricing from both Intel and AMD. The downside, though, is that they will start to decrease the product cycles of some chips, meaning the old feeling of hardware that is top of the line until a few months pass and they come up with the next generation of it. :)

I met someone who looks a lot like you.
She does the things you do.
But she is an IBM.

Reviews are starting to show up now that the NDA has expired:

In short: Core 2 Duo is extremely fast, with even low end E6400 model often matching AMD's FX-62. The high end E6700 and X6800 processors absolutely smoke everything.

This is a sign of things to come. the mobile Core 2 Duo processors (Merom core), are going to leave everything in the dust.

Tech Report gets a very favorable impression.
