The results are fairly suprising. Even though the Core 2 Duo is a much larger chip with more cache and execution resources than the Core Duo, the Core 2 Duo does not seem to consume more power than the Core Duo at the same clock speed.
The Core 2 is generally faster (5-15% per clock) as well. The advantage can be as much as 20% in multimedia applications
Based on this report, I would say that people looking to do a lot of encoding or video editing work on their notebook should get a Core 2. The rest of us would be fine with Core.
