#1 Post by Fred Mertz » Sat Sep 09, 2006 3:35 pm

I have an A20p which while having a nice bright screen shows some smudges and dirt in certain bright light .I have been using a soft cloth and LIGHTLY brushing with optical lens cleaner. Can I apply more pressure to get a more thorough cleaning or does this risk damage to screen? Thanks

You can apply some pressure, but do it within reasonable bonds.

You might want to try cleaning it with a microfiber cloth with distilled water. With regular tap water, you'll probably get streaks.

Hope this helps. :)

Cleaning your Thinkpad's screen is a topic covered in the FAQs here. :)

I would though, recommend a microfiber or chamois cloth with a special LCD screen cleaner (e.g. KlearScreen) as that does the job exceptionally well. Do *not* use Windex or large amount of alcohol on the screen as this will make it become yellow and more brittle over time.

Ideally, your screen should be off when you go to clean it. Apply a firm, but gentle, dose of pressure and wipe in patterns which change periodically. After you are done, look at the LCD from an oblique angle whilst it is off near a light source. If you don't see any more smudges, you can stop polishing and, hence, applying pressue.
