Ummm isn't that about enough?

#1 Post by MobileGuru » Fri Sep 29, 2006 12:27 am

.. does anyone actually READ before they POST anymore? I swear if I see one more posting about a recall I'm going to eat my keyboard.

I was able to recall many facts and lessons learned in school, but my memory isn't what it used to be.

Does that qualify as "keyboard breakfast"? :)

I agree. They are getting posted faster that we can lock them....or in some cases delete them (ie. posting the same thread 3 times).

ZD Net had the *best* headline today:
"Laptop battery recalls explode"

Well done by ZD Net. ... JD Hurst

Well Mo, I'm an x60s owner and I read the x60 forum exclusively. I don't read the IBM news forum because for the most part I'm not interested. If the mods simply posted a locked battery recall notice at the head of each model forum users like me would get the message without having to locate the info elsewhere.

Because users don't look for info where mods place it doesn't mean we're uninformed...just more intuitive. A recall deserves more attention than some of the other locked headlines mods post. Put the recall notice where it belongs and I'd bet you see an end to double posting.

I use the link named "View posts since last visit" on the main page and it shows new posts to all forums here. It is not that hard to look through the posts and choose which ones you want to look at.
It's not like this place gets 200 new posts a day. More like 60 and I read probably 1/3 of them. There is good information in more than just the T60 forum that may apply to you.

No, it just means that some users don't pay attention to other stuff which might, actually, be important. "News" in the title may or may not be enough of a hint, I don't know. Intuitive means perceiving easily by one's own mind without the necessary aid of external abstractions, what is intuitive is more subjective than objective in the informational sense; if doesn't mean, however, that a bit of important info, which happens to be a common subests of specific models (such as Sony batteries), should be ignored or classed as "non-intuitive" because stickies aren't in *each and every* affected Thinkpad Series forum.

Not interested in all posts so view all doesn't apply. And Chris, don't reel bud. Your board, you're right. Right?

....Wha?

The battery recall isn't news and, err, isn't important for the X60s with Sony batteries?

The point I made Chris was that it makes more sense to put the recall notice in those forums that apply. In all the time you wasted goading a flame war you could have read the official recall notice and posted the appropriate info to the affected forums. But you'd rather prove you're right for some absurd reason.

Furthermore, this forum is a General news forum. The recall affects specific models. There isn't a General recall on batteries.

I have to admit, granted I'm a new member, you make for a lousy welcome wagon. If you aren't laughing your butt off when you are writing this pig slop;

"No, it just means that some users don't pay attention to other stuff which might, actually, be important. "News" in the title may or may not be enough of a hint, I don't know. then you are a little too scary for my tastes.

With 4K posts, I get the sense you won't quit until you earn your feathers and crown. You are busier on this board than a one legged contestant in a butt kicking contest. It's annoying and it's no wonder there are so few posts because of people like you lurking for comment fodder.

It's obvious that as a newbe on this forum, you failed to read the rules that apply here.

This is listed on the top of the very first page entitled "READ ME FIRST FAQ then post"

I have copied and pasted Item #1:

1." The primary purpose of this Forum is to act as an educational forum for the exchange of information for all things Thinkpad. Are you here to be a respectful, contributing participant? Or is the place you have chosen to unleash your pent up anger and unhappiness?

Certainly something that you seem to have no interest in.

Perhaps taking your time to create personal attacks is just something that feeds your ego. Behavior that belongs elsewhere.

Nonny handled the issue perfectly -- right to the point and got the job done. The forum hits on the battery recall announcement is proof positive. Is someone upset that this suggestion made more sense?

Your characterization is misguided. From my first post to this board I've been hounded by your golfing partner -- behavior that belongs elsewhere. I've noticed he has tee'd off other members too. He needs to learn when to back off -- especially if he's rubbed someone the wrong way but continues to pour salt nonetheless.

"Certainly something that you seem to have no interest in."

Getting personal? Really. I wouldn't have joined the board if I had no interest.

Isn't that about enough?

thanks, nonny..
this thread was spinning out of control.. :?

uhmm, i posted the battery recall article that appeard in the wall street journal (with attribution) in the conferences for each affected thinkpad model..

which should have been sufficient to notify each owner who read the announcement post at the top..

more posts and threads would be redundant as any discuccion could take place in the notice thread..

for me, i have two sony cell batteries, one each for my T60p and X60s and i will deal with it in due course as i advise all others similarly situated to do..

thank you ladies and gentlemen.. :)
