A new LCD cable should do the trick.

IBM TP T41p (1.7G/1GB/100GB-7k100/DVD-CDRW/SXGA+/BT)
IBM TP T22 (900/512/40/DVD/CDRW/14")
IBM TP A31 (1.8GHz/512MB/40GB/DVD-CDRW/15" SXGA)
For sale: n/a
WTB: n/a

A simple reseating of the cable might affect a cure as well.

Pretty rare for the LED to burn out, it will probably outlive most of us.

Definitely one of those vicious circle situations. Made me laugh, because it reminded me of an online class from my university (exclusively offered through the Internet) entitled "Learn how to use the Internet". Just like the not-so-successful book "Reading for Dummies"

Yes, I once overheard a 40 something year old gentleman ask a young lady working at Borders: "Which is better? 'Excel for Dummies' or 'Idiots guide to Excel'?".

Her response was a classic, although it was lost on this particular gentleman: "Well, are you an idiot or a dummy?".
