Microsoft Flight Simulator X. Will it run on a T41p?

#1 Post by agarza » Mon Oct 30, 2006 11:28 am

I may buy the Microsoft Flight Simulator X Deluxe Edition, but I was wondering if with these specs I would be able to play the game with a decent resolution:

1GB PC2700 RAM
128MB FireGL T2
40GB 5400rpm
Current
T440p:
Core i7-4710MQ|8GB RAM|Intel SSD S3700 200GB | 14.1" IPS FHD | Windows 7 Pro, T450 Trackpad, Backlit keyboard, 2nd Caddy
Past: T420 HD+, X61s XGA, T61 14" SXGA+, T42p 14.1 SXGA+, T30, A22e

The MSFS X does a great job of scaling the hardware specs from really high end to low end systems. So you can go with lower settings and get a high resolution, although I didnt notice a need to increase resolution in these games compared to FPS ones.

It will run well on a T41p; but so will X-Plane. ;) :)

Is this the one in the commercial with the red bull plane? If so...I gotta say the graphics look circa 1995.

That's the one Dan and yes, the graphics aren't up to some of the stuff you'll see on an X-Box, but the aircraft detail is fantastic.

Try the demo: http://download.microsoft.com/download/ ... SXDemo.exe

With my 16MB of VRAM?

As to the images posted by smek, I've seen the one in countless tech magazines, but I had no idea it had to do with a flight simulator..I just thought it was showing the capabilities of some graphics card.

I just think its amazing how it can scale such insane graphics to work with some of the lowest systems out there. And I keep looking at the bottom of that mountain screen and cant belive thats made by a computer as the water is so real, although I dont know if thats from in game screen.

OK thank you then.

I'll report my impressions of the game after I've installed it

I tried the demo on my T43 (ATI x300) and was pretty disappointed. Had to scale graphics back quite a bit for decent framerate. Had much better experience with X-Plane.
T43 (2687-DUU) - 1.86GHz, 1.5GB RAM, 100GB 5400 (non IBM-firmware Hitachi 5k100) HD, Fingerprint Scanner, 802.11abg/Bluetooth, ATI x300
