Where to buy ThinkPad R60 or T60?

#1 Post by kenatsun » Fri Nov 10, 2006 1:32 pm

Other than lenovo.com, where should one shop for ThinkPads? (I'm looking for an R60 or T60.)

Are there places other than Lenovo where one can get it custom-built?

Who tends to have the best prices?

Where is the best place to find price comparisons?

Any other cautions or considerations about particular retailers?

~ TIA

Interesting.

The prices from the non-Lenovo sites I've examined so far (including costcentral and euclid, mentioned above) are higher than Lenovo's, and they all seem to be selling only the Core Duo processors, as opposed to the Core 2 Duos that Lenovo is selling, which give better performance and equal-or-better battery life - see http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/sh ... i=2808&p=6.

I'm still checking ebay and Amazon, and will report back if I find anything different there.

I have checked ebay and Amazon, and nothing there even comes close to the Lenovo offerings.

Anybody have any other sources to recommend?

From some postings I've read here at Thinkpads.com, the down-side to ordering from Lenovo is that they tend to take forever to fill your order. Is this still true?

You could try places like Euclidcomputers as they usually have the models you would like in stock and ready to go. :)

I met someone who looks a lot like you.
She does the things you do.
But she is an IBM.

Lenovo takes a long time on some models. In my experience, the more goodies the longer it takes. (IPS screen, Verizon chip, etc.) Other more common models ship almost immediately. They have also been sending everything out direct from mainland China with FREE international express shipping that arrives (to my west-coast location) in literally about 60 hours. Hard to complain most of the time. I waited two months for a top-of-the-line X60s once though.
