How to clean the trackpoint ? Do you have tips ?

#1 Post by WarMachine » Sun Nov 19, 2006 4:42 pm

Hello,

I've seen FAQ about cleaning thinkpads. :idea:

My 600E is in excellent shape, but the trackpoint. :cry:

I've tried to clean it with water and soap, but it isn't very efficient. :(

Do you have tips to clean this red plastic thing ?

Thx.

:)

Seconded strongly. I have done so for all my Classic Trackpoint caps and it really does work great. :)

That's how I do it too, but what it really does is just scratching off the dirty surface rather than cleaning it. So, after doing it just several times, you will have filed it down so thin that it becomes useless.

trackpoint cleaning

I've had success soaking the cap in a mixture of dishwasher detergent and some water. Let it sit overnight and brush with an old tooth brush.

Toothbrush and toothpaste is what I normally use to clean my TrackPoint and that solution works just fine. It also leaves your TrackPoint smelling minty fresh.

luckily on retrackpointcapping the fleet, I saved the
old grungy much fingered caps: this minty fresh plan,
tried on the local t22, is great:-) Oh, I guess I'm
using Colgate.
the way up and the way down are the same (heraclitus)
