Qn on international warranty when I buy from Lenovo USA

#1 Post by alfred_62 » Fri Nov 24, 2006 11:56 am

Hi guys

I live in Singapore.

I find that the thinkpads in USA are generally much more cheaper than in SG.

If I purchase a laptop from Lenovo USA, will there be international warranty?

Does anyone know this?

Regards
Alfred

The only possible answer is that it depends on what model Thinkpad you purchase.

Post the model number of the Thinkpad you want to buy and we can better answer your question.

Could you perhaps give us the means to find out ourselves? (if we have a product number)

Also, do you have to pick one of their warranty offers to get the 3 year warranty plus 1 year battery or is that automatically given with any purchase?

Thanks

You can look up which warranty was offered on various model Thinkpads by checking the current versions of TABOOK and TAWBOOK (see the FAQs)l

Not every model Thinkpad came with a three year warranty as standard, many were sold with only a one year warranty, but almost no Thinkpads were ever sold without some period of warranty coverage.

All thinkpads sold in the USA IBM website is in US Dollars... not SG Dollars...

I have calculated and converted the currency and it is almost the same in Singapore. Just try to get your X60 from the singapore IBM website online and do not try out the retail shops in Sim Lim and worst still Funan IT Mall. Just a little notebook IBM mouse in Funan IT mall is X2 more than you order online...

International Service on USA Warranty "Basically yes&qu

#8 Post by Norristrev » Sun Feb 04, 2007 6:46 pm

I asked the same question yesterday to Lenovo (as I am negotiating the purchase of my first Think Pad...eg. note: I am NOT experienced!) (it will be a t60p)

My Lenovo.com sales rep (a nice, but randomly selected guy who works saturdays) said the following (though I am yet to find it ANYWHERE in writing):

"The thinkpad is covered though its warranty period in any of the major countries in the world at a depot level, and that Peru is considered one of those countries."

I made it clear, that I am from USA, the computer will be delivered in USA, paid for with my USA MasterCard and will "travel" with me on foreign assignments which are for months/years at a time.

Take that for what its worth. AND LET ME KNOW IF YOU LEARN MORE...Please!
