Would you like to change traditional IBM [Fn] key placement to different place on the keyboard ? Windows keys are not considered since it is usually between Ctrl and Alt keys.

I am happy with it where it is. On my T41, Fn PgUP turns on the light, and that key sequence is easy to do in the dark. ... JD Hurst

I agree with JD Hurst for the same reason.

Either leave it as it is, because people are used to it by now, or change it to Ctrl-Fn-Alt-Space (or more accurately, Ctrl-Fn-Win-Alt-Space). I don't think it should be between the Alt and the space.

I too agree with JD Hurst. It's handy for the thinkligt but also for hibernate imo. It was a little weird in the beginning but I'm used to it now, as do most of the laptop users I think. I don't see it "logical" in between ctrl and alt or windows key or so...

I agree that it is nice to be able to do fn-pgup for the thinklight in the dark, but I think it wouldn't be much harder to find fn in the dark if the layout was fn ctrl win alt space. And I use emacs a lot (which uses many ctrl combinations) and would like it much better if the ctrl were easier to find, so I voted for ctrl fn win alt. I came to thinkpads from dells (which have ctrl fn win alt), and it didn't take too long to learn the new layout, so I don't think there's much to worry about relearning.

Here's a blog entry about this stuff:
