Do PIII-M and P-M Share The Same Socket Type?

Do PIII-M and P-M share the same socket type?
And is there any chance that a P-M would work in a PIII-M machine (like how a PIII will work in a 600E)?

Interesting question. My guess is "no", because they have very different bus speeds, 100 or 133MHz for the PIII, vs. 400MHz or faster for the P-M.

I suppose putting a 400mhz CPU on a 133mhz chipset would overclock the motherboard to 400mhz, likely causing some damage. Either that, or the CPU would run at 133mhz, right?

Well, seeing as the Pentium M runs on Pentium 4 based sockets, I doubt strongly that Pentium M processors could go in Pentium III-M slots.

The definite answer is no, due to the following factors:
- different bus speeds (133 MHz vs 400 MHz)
- different bus technologies (single vs quad-pumped)
- different pin configurations

Thanks for clearing that up. Sounded like a long shot to me, but I figured I may as well ask.
