ThinkVantage Client Security Solution Information

#1 Post by ccrawford@markbis.com » Thu Feb 01, 2007 2:57 pm

I'm looking for a way to contact tech support for Client Security Solution questions or to find a knowledgeable person to contact.

I want to know the purpose of:
AcpIR.cab
ibmtcsd.exe

I want to better understand how rescue and recovery works. Does it do the same thing as Norton's Save and Restore? Which one works best? Are there tricks to setting it up properly? etc.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

ibmtcsd.exe implements the TSS Core Services Daemon. The core services daemon sits above the TPM Device Driver Library (TDDL) to which it communicates via the TPM Device Driver Library Interface (TDDLI) and talks via the TSS Core Service Interface (TCSI) to TSS Service Providers (TSPs), TCPA Service Providers and Remote Platforms (through an RPC Server). It has components: Context manager TCSCM), Key and credential manager (TCSKCM), event manager (TCSEM), audit manager, TPM parameter block generator (TCSipBG). See: the specification for details. Figure 1-2 for the TSS architecture diagram and the TCS is described in section 5 (pp 496--710).

Lev - thank you for your reply. However, I still don't understand the purpose in layman's terms. Why would I need to run the .exe file? Thanks.
